4 breathing exercises that will improve your health, youth & vitality!

There is a well-known saying that "breath is life." Without breath most of us cannot survive for more than a few minutes. Yet most of us take breathing very much for granted. When we practice the regulation of breath, our body becomes harmonious, strong and beautiful. Here are a few breathing exercises we would like to share with you! Give them a try and stay tuned for more info and tips on breathing!

1. 4, 7, 8 x 7 Breathing

If you’re feeling anxious and want to relax right away, this is one of the best breathing exercises to try.

Breathe in through your nose while counting to 4
Hold your breath and count to 7
Then exhale through your mouth while counting to 8.
Repeat this pattern 7 times.

As a bonus, keep your tongue pressed against the back of your front teeth. This way, when you exhale through your mouth, you’ll make a slight hissing sound.

2. Diaphragmatic Breathing

Lie on your back for this breathing exercise with one hand on your upper chest and the other right below your rib cage. Breathe slowly through your nose, feeling only your belly moving. This exercise helps to calm the nervous system, strengthen the diaphragm, increase relaxation, and increase oxygen levels in the bloodstream.

3. Retained Breath

This breath is very useful if you want to achieve a sense of withdrawal and concentration, which are both elements needed to achieve a deeper meditation. Use this breath if you need assistance in remaining calm under stressful conditions. To start, place one hand on your stomach and relax your abdominal muscles. Slowly inhale through your nose, bringing the air into the bottom of your lungs, and continue to inhale as your lungs expand and your collarbones begin to rise. At the peak of your inhalation, pause and then exhale from the top of your lungs to the bottom.

4. Simple Equal Breath

Inhale through your nose for four counts, and then exhale through your nose for four counts. It is recommended that you increase the count per breath (from four to six or eight) over time. This breathing exercise will help to reduce stress and calm your mind.

1. May help you lose weight

Lemon water is a great addition to your morning routine as it jump-starts your metabolism, helping you keep a healthy weight and be active. To make lemon water, use whole lemons (not lemon juice in a bottle). Squeeze the juice from one lemon into 8 to 12 ounces of water. You can also grate in a bit of the zest (just wash the lemon first with clean or acid water) or add in some slices of fresh lemon. Enjoy it at room temperature or warm.

2. It helps keep you from getting sick

We’ve all heard that vitamin C, which is found in citrus fruits like lemon, gives your immune system a boost. But one of the benefits of lemon water is helping to prevent infection. The acidic environment in the stomach serves as a barrier, deterring pathogens from gaining a foothold and causing illness. Lemon juice contributes to this acidic environment, helping to protect the body from disease.

3. It aids digestion

Another one of the benefits of lemon water is that the acids help to digest food. The citrus flavonoids in lemon aid the acid in the stomach to break down food, improving overall digestion. Warming the water has proven to provide the greatest digestive benefits. Aiding digestion is especially important as we get older because the amount of acid in our stomach can decline with age. You can add lemon slices and zest to your water for extra benefits and nutrients.

4. Lemon water gives you a vitamin C boost

Citrus fruits are a great source of vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells against free radicals. Vitamin C prevents bleeding gums, bruising, glowing skin, wound healing and collagen production.

5. It keeps you hydrated

Hydration is not a direct benefit of the lemon properties themselves, but rather, drinking flavored water might entice you to consume more of it. Fluids, in general, provide hydration, however, some people struggle to drink an adequate amount of water per day simply because they find water boring or do not enjoy the taste. Adding lemon to water can enhance the taste, making it more appealing to some, helping them to drink more and improve hydration.

6. It may help you look younger

The vitamin C in lemon juice can help your skin glow naturally. A higher vitamin C intake has also proven to help produce fewer wrinkles. Vitamin C is a nutrient that can fight off free-radical damage and protect the skin. This is due to vitamin C’s effects on collagen, which helps make up the connective tissue under the skin. In addition, the hydration from the water helps the skin stay more subtle and provides a more youthful appearance. Your skin is an organ, and hydration helps it function at its best.

7. Improve liver function

Another one of the benefits of lemon water is helping your liver to do a better job being the body’s filter. Boosting overall hydration can help to improve the function of all organs in the body, including the liver. In addition, citrus flavonoids in lemon may protect the liver against toxins and reduce fat in the liver, protecting against fatty liver disease. Your liver is the body’s natural mechanism for flushing out toxins; so helping the liver to work better will benefit your whole body

8. It increases your potassium levels

We generally associate potassium with bananas, but lemons are a good source as well. Potassium is found in large amounts primarily in fruits and vegetables. It is an element that is essential for cell function and metabolism and transmission of nerve signals. Potassium is an electrolyte that helps to conduct electricity throughout the body. This nerve-muscle communication helps skeletal-muscular function.

9. It makes you more regular

Along with helping your gut and liver, lemon-flavored water can be part of a healthy way to help you go to the bathroom. Increasing fluid intake and stimulating the liver can promote regular bowel movements. Moreover since lemon helps with digestion, the body will be able to clear out easier.

10. It freshens breath

When it comes to personal hygiene, the citrus in lemon water helps to reduce the growth of bacteria in the mouth, which will lead to a fresher breathe.

YOUR WATER FILTER CREATES STRONG WATER ACIDITY LEVELS THAT PROVIDE BENEFICIAL USES TO KILL BACTERIA AND VIRUSES

Topical uses for Acidic Ionized water

The antioxidant and healthful benefits of alkaline ionized water has been widely known for decades. An often-overlooked aspect of water ionizers is the use of acidic ionized water for topical sterilization and its antibacterial properties. The potential for water ionizers to reach strong acidity levels enables them to provide beneficial uses on a range of surfaces to kill bacteria and viruses.

Here is a list of popular applications you can use the acidic water for:

Dentistry and disinfecting the mouth with acidic water

Water ionizers are great for sterilizing objects that represent an area of high bacterial growth. The main job of a toothbrush is to cleanse the teeth and mouth of bacteria and plaque. Even though some people switch out their toothbrushes frequently, bacteria is still harvested on the bristles of a toothbrush after every use! Ionizers are great for a quick stream of acidic water on the toothbrush to kill the bacteria off before use. Much like a mouthwash, the acidic water can be gargled for similar effects on bacteria already in the mouth.

Washing and rinsing Dishes and the Sponge with acidic ionized water

It has become fairly wide known that the kitchen sponge harvests the most bacteria out of any object in the house. Considering it is the object that is supposed to clean the items you eat and drink out of, this can be a worrying dilemma. Rinsing the sponge with acidic ionized water will effectively kill the bacteria growing on your sponge.

Sometimes the dishes do not have to go through the dishwasher. If you are looking for a quick hand rinse, your water ionizer is far more capable of providing a green natural antibacterial cleanser since you can rinse them with acidic water and ensure they are clean and bacteria free for another use.

Watering Plants with acidic ionized water

Giving your plants slight acidic ionized water of a pH around 5.0 to 5.5 will greatly improve the speed of their growth as well as their fruitfulness. Use on dying plants or simply as daily source of water for them.

Hands

Bacteria and viruses live on the skin and we are increasingly coming into contact with more objects and more people. Cellphones, door handles, and many other seemingly innocuous objects are potential sites for infection. You can ensure a more sanitary rinse if you wash your hands with acidic water in combination with hand soap or hand sanitizer.

Face

Depending on your skin care regimen, you may be interested to try the benefits of ionized water for cosmetic reasons. Acidic water is a great constituent for keeping a youthful appearance and shedding dead skin cells. Besides exfoliating, you can be more assured your face is cleaner of acne causing bacteria.

Washing Fruits & Vegetables

Besides cleaning and removing pesticide residue, killing bacteria from your fruits and vegetables by simply soaking them, then rinsing them in acidic ionized water is of great value for your health and your family’s.

You can use acidic ionized water to disinfect fruits and vegetables naturally without chemical soaps or other chemicals. If you are rinsing your fruits and vegetables with tap water you are still drinking chlorine and other chemicals in the water, in addition tap water is not a good antibacterial agent. Acidic ionized water is a natural disinfectant; it kills bacteria with its strong acidic pH. Washing fruits and vegetables is something most people already do. Whether the fruits and vegetables are organic and pesticide free or not, you cannot always guarantee the microbial conditions on the surface of your food. Washing food with low 3.3 pH acidic water kills bacteria on the surfaces of the fruits and the vegetables you eat.

How-do-you-exercise-3.png
21/Dec/2024

Physical activity and exercise is important for our body’s physical and mental health. It helps to maintain a good circulation, strengthen our muscles, balance our hormones and simply feel good in our own body. Going to a gym can support a commitment to a place and a routine, especially when the weather does not encourage outdoor activities. However the benefits from physical activity outside are endless… Nonetheless, the way in which we move our body is very individual and we all must discover what works for us. Here are some things you might want to take into consideration:

Oxygen
We humans rely greatly on oxygen for our physical function and can in fact only survive 3-4 minutes without air. When exercising outdoors, breathing patterns not only increase but we are also capable of taking in more oxygen and send it deeply into our cells. Oxygen is a source of life that promotes the cleansing of our entire system. When we are out with nature, we are able to absorb its energy that actually has the ability to burn excess toxins in the body.

Tips: Spend more time moving outside. Enjoy a walk or change of scenery to reenergize the body & mind after long hours behind your desk. Go for a brisk walk in the morning to wake up the mind and the senses. Focus on your breathing and try to absorb as much oxygen as possible.

Routine
Trying to force ourselves into a routine can become challenging. High intensity workouts and strict diets can make it difficult for the body to keep up. That is why many may hit a plateau and wonder why they are not reaching their goals. It is so important that we assess our routine and consider introducing new exercises or activities. Our body and mind need constant change in order to develop, break through boundaries and achieve better productivity.

Tips: Consider doing a different exercise routine on a monthly, weekly or even daily basis. Often it helps to let go of a forced program and develop a lifestyle with activities that you enjoy.

Seasons
Seasonal changes can effect our mood and our desire to step out or stay indoors. The summer heat in Dubai will most likely push us to stay away from doing any heavy exercise under the sun. However as we move closer to the cooler months, Dubai offers the perfect setting for outdoor activities. Whether it’s taking a walk on the beach, water sports or simply enjoying a day at the pool.

Tips: Adjust the space you choose to exercise in to the time of the year and the place you live. Consider reducing the time at the gym when the weather permits it and instead take your movement outdoors! A great bonus to living in Dubai when the weather gets better is to enjoy a swim in the sea at sunset to relax and unwind the body after a long day.

Individuality
When it comes to exercise the most important aspect to consider is that we are all different. The way we eat, our age, our health status, our general lifestyle habits etc. are all going to have an influence on how we perform. That is why not all exercise routines work for everyone. You may have heard this before, but it is key to understand and find out what works for us.

Tips: Listen to your body. If you feel like you need to rest, then take a day off. If you feel like you want to go boxing, swimming, play a game of tennis, take a run or do some yoga, then do that. At the end of the day you need to ENJOY what you do. Movement can be medicine if you respect your body, give it what it needs and have fun.

THE-HISTORY-OF.png
21/Dec/2024

When Christopher Columbus went on a journey to explore new territory, he stumbled upon the Americas, and ended up with his fleet in Hawaii. During their long trip, the sailors got infected with various diseases, especially Syphilis which they brought with them back to Spain. Syphilis in particular was still unknown in this part of the world and with low levels of sanitation at the time; it spread like wildfire across Europe. No one knew what to do with the disease. When Syphilis reaches stage 3, it becomes an open wound with a heavy odor. All the infected were isolated as one knew what to do with them.

Exploring options for a cure, someone realized that adding sulphur to the wounds would cover it up and stop it from spreading. However these wounds then started to get burnt, became deeper and worsened. Another doctor found that adding sulphur with sour cream would cause less burning. They later started using sulphur with sour cream to make a whitener for the face. This was the first creation of a cosmetic product, which eventually became the base for creams and other medical applications.

Oil vs. Cream
In the 19th century, a woman was famous for selling beauty related creams she used to make at her home from mixing milk products and proteins. She was known for the red painted door that attracted many people to visit her and become her first customers. She continued making more creams and promoted her products as skin care for beauty. At that time, no preservatives existed, and so these creams would only be valid for 2 to 3 days.

During the time of Cleopatra, and ancient Indian practices, all the beauty products were oilbased. If you put herbs or anything in the oil, it can preserve itself and its content. It is also familiar to the skin’s texture. This means if you use oil, the skin and your cells will absorb it.

Cream on the other hand is fermented and protein based. Protein has a big molecular size and coagulates under the heat and sun. This means the milk thickens and begins to block the skin’s pores. Oil-based products did not have this problem.

Skin Care & Allergies
A huge amount of allergies developed due to covering the skin and not allowing it to breathe. By blocking the skin you basically shut down 1/3 of the lung. We breathe 2/3 through the lung and 1/3 through the skin. The moment our skin gets blocked, our lungs become blocked, leading to a shallow breathing and a spreading of allergies.

In the 1920-40s, chemistry started to develop. Cosmetic products were packaged with a longer shelf life. These products contributed to more blocking of the pores and resulted in severe pigmentation and allergies due to constant application over the years. Many blame allergies on chemicals in our food, but a large part has also been all the protein-based cosmetic products that cover the skin and don’t allow the body to breathe.

Creams were applied by adults and on children from the time they were born. More and more cosmetics products continued to be developed. But just like aspirin; it stops the pain, but it doesn’t solve the problem. These products did not work, which is why there was always a need to keep on creating new ones. In the recent years, aesthetic companies started introducing serums. Serums work much better than any other cream since there is no coagulation or fermentation on the skin, and that makes it more effective. Scientists have also turned to homeopathic formulations that work to stimulate your own collagen production.

Today, many of these procedures like Mesotherapy, Botox and laser therapy have been overused and people’s faces are beginning to get more disfigured. We are seeing the dreadful effects of anti-aging medicine. Anti-aging goes against time and results in a face with dead expressions. A substance can be the greatest medicine or the biggest toxin. It just depends what dose you use. Modern medicine takes the dose that works to suppress, while Homeopathy dilutes it in order to support you.

That is why what we see today is hardly “modern aesthetics,a instead it is anti-aging. Real aesthetics can only be holistic. Holistic Aesthetics works for youth and vitality as it considers beauty as a whole.

Homeopathy was founded in 1796 by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. This natural form of healing is based on: "the principle of similars," which means that a substance known to cause the symptoms of disease, will also create a cure of those symptoms if administered in a small amount.

Rather than masking or suppressing symptoms, homeopathy addresses both the body and mind, strengthening the body's own defense system so that it can heal itself. Before advising a remedy, homeopaths consider not only the patient's symptoms but their personal traits, physical states, psychological condition and history.

Made from plants, minerals, and other natural substances, homeopathic medicines are created by adding infinitesimal amounts of a specific substance to distilled water and then shaking it, a process known as "succussion." Homeopaths believe that these repeated shakings and dilutions cause a shadow or imprint on the water, giving it the medicines' power. In fact, the more times a medicine is diluted, the more powerful it is considered to be. Due to the extreme dilution of the original substance however, homeopathic remedies can be taken safely and with no negative side effects.

Homeopathy was very popular among prominent and well-educated members of society in Europe during the nineteenth century. The British Royal Family in particular has used and supports homeopathy till today.

At Holistic Healing Medical Centre, our Holistic Doctor uses Homeopathic remedies in combination with other traditional, non-invasive treatments to avoid unnecessary and detrimental side-effects. It is especially useful when treating symptoms that are a result of a constitutional imbalance. Visit our centre for a Holistic consultation to find out what homeopathic remedies might benefit you.

UNDERSTANDING-YOUR-ENERGY.png

Chakras, also known as energy centers sit in 7 key positions along the center of the body. Understanding our chakra system enables us to connect with the level of our energy and health status. Each chakra corresponds to an organ or a specific function of the body. When we are balanced and all systems are working in harmony with each other, we no longer experience illnesses, symptoms or a lack of energy.

It is only when our mind is powerful and the physical, emotional and spiritual parts of us are balanced, that we are able to truly thrive. We live in a fast pace world that neglects caring for our ENTIRE being. We put so much emphasis on independent symptoms or organs with very little consideration on how everything is connected. Our energy and chakra centers, rely on each other to maintain a harmony and balance of the human body. That is why, it is important for our “wholea being to be understood and addressed holistically. Our body is our home and caring for it is the only way to keep “the house in ordera.

Each of the seven main chakras has its own innate intelligence and function. Once we have an understanding of the purpose and role that every center has, then we can learn how best to balance, activate and nurture our energy levels. By doing so, we automatically work on creating health.

During your bio-well energy screening, we educate you on your complete energetic system which includes your chakra centers and aura (energy field). This screening will give you an even deeper understanding to the root cause of your symptoms and concerns. We will then introduce you to the tools that you can use to take control of your life and become the best version of yourself. At the end of the day, no one else can take responsibility for your body and life... except you!
